Let us pray for the eternal repose of the soul of Pope John Paul II, Karol Wotjtyla who passed away April 2nd due to weakening health (1920 - 2005)
I sure was a devoted Catholic in my teenage years. y’know joining some
groups dedicated to encourage people to pray, to become closer to God
through Jesus and especially Mary.
Noticing how Pope John Paul II was very special for me during that time
too. well i’ve seen him in person twice already… both on world youth
day events… 1995 Manila and 2002 Toronto. He was the only pope i ever
known in my entire life up till now despite having read about all the other popes and i didn’t even notice that he had done a lot
of things that changed the image of the Catholic Church as well as us Catholics and most especially the non-Catholics who the pontiff is always renewing his relationships with. We must be
absolutely thankful for that. He is the only pope to travel around the
world spreading the Good News, the only pope who made a great influence
including politics. He was the only pope who reached out to all
religions and if you are going to talk to a muslim or a jew or a
buddhist about JPII, they will talk about his greatest contributions
from his reign in the throne of St. Peter’s Basilica in 1978. the last contribution he did was when he reacted against the war in Iraq which was continued anyway
by the Bush Administration in the US. He was the only pope to enter a
synagogue, and a mosque. He was the first non-Italian pope in 455 years
after a Dutch pope St. Adrian VI.
Reading all these information about him is nice, but much more when you
really see his face. he is committed to the better of the 1.1B
Catholics around the world and even the non-Catholics and the
non-religious. he loves us, he wants us to go to the right path to
goodness that God have given us.
What will happen next? I always hope for an even better leadership, but
no one can compare to the greatness of Pope John Paul II.
